HOLIDAY MORATORIUM:
Below are the REMAINING moratorium dates for 2024-2025. Crew parking, lane, and street closures are prohibited in residential areas during the following dates:
November 26 – December 1, Thanksgiving
December 22 – 28, Christmas
December 29, 2024 – January 5, 2025, New Years

*In addition, this moratorium includes no equipment or production vehicles left over and/or parked in lanes in the residential areas.*

Beginning February 2025, the Decatur Square will be under renovation and construction for approxiately 18 months. 

Filming Your Production in Decatur, Georgia

Please submit your permit request at least 96 business hours in advance of production.

Permits submitted less than 96 business hours are charged an additional fee of $250. Fees are 
non-refundable if application is cancelled or denied.


Big screen, small screen, silver screen or green screen, we welcome your interest in the City of Decatur, Georgia as a possible film or video location. Decatur, a compact city just six miles east of Atlanta, is hometown to 25,000 residents and attracts visitors from all over metro Atlanta and beyond.
 

Because Decatur continues to grow in popularity as a destination for film and video projects of all kinds, we have developed guidelines intended to help your project go smoothly while maintaining public access and enjoyment of our downtown streets, neighborhoods and parks.

 

The City of Decatur requires a permit for all commercial photography, motion picture, or television or video production as described in the Guidelines and Procedures listed at right. 


If your production is planning to film at a Marta Station or on Marta Property, please visit  http://www.itsmarta.com/Default.aspx for access to MARTA Transit maps and schedules. A signed license agreement is required to film any commercial photography, television shows, short features or any other film projects on MARTA Property. MARTA will approve or reject the filmmaker's request based on how the project will affect the normal transit service schedule.  Be aware that all film requests must be submitted at least 30 days before filming begins. Please follow the link for more information.

Please be advised that permit is required for use of the right-of-way on all Georgia State Routes for film purposes. Permits are issued by the various District Traffic Operations Offices.
