We provide location assistance, information regarding technical crews, talent, hotel recommendations, film permitting, and coordinate filming at city owned locations. We also act as a liaison between your company, government agencies and the local community.
 
What You Need to Know to Film
 
The Phoenix Film and Digital Media Permit (FDM Permit) and the accompanying Terms and Conditions​ allows a production to film in city owned buildings, parks and public rights-of-way within the defined boundaries of the City of Phoenix. The FDM Permit covers all film and digital media activities including features, television, industrial, educational, documentary, student, still photography, commercials, and social media used for commercial purposes.​

Film Permitting Quick Facts
 
FDM Permit fees are listed in the Fee Schedule (under Useful Documents to the right) and we offer three tiers of FDM Permits: General, Student, and Low Impact.  
 
Application fee, FDM Permit fees, Rush fees, and Material Change fees are non-refundable
 
FDM Permits only cover the defined boundaries of the City of Phoenix. Should you need to film in another city besides Phoenix, please refer to the Regional Film Offices page fo contact information.

Permit Timeframe
  • 1-4 weeks please begin the application process.  Popular locations can be book fast and priority is given to those projects in the order in which they completed the application process.  
  • No Later Than Three (3) Business Days Prior (72 business day hours from first call time), all documentation must be submitted (fees, insurance, requested documents, et cetera).  
  • Inside of Three (3) Business Days the FDM Permit will be issued.  We are happy to accommodate time adjustments up until 24-business day hours for permitted locations.  However, Productions that have not provided any of the following will be assessed a Rush Fee: application, application fee, completed permit information, insurance, permit fee, or other requested documents.  Productions with Material Changes inside of three (3) Business Days will be assessed a fee.
  • Inside of 24-Hours Business Day Hours the Phoenix Film Office will not accept applications and all shoot arrangements are locked (including due to weather).  Cancellations will result in the Production paying the minimum for any City of Phoenix staff (off-duty or on-duty).  Any other fees submitted will not be refunded.
